Appointed College Democrats Executive Board Positions

Communications Director:

  • Updates group blog 2-3 times a week
  • Keeps updated publicity binder
  • Develops strategies for event advertising
  • Updates social networking sites

*1 page writing sample required with application on any choice of topic*

Campaigns Director:

  • Works closely with VP to organize weekly campaigning trips
  • Keeps regular correspondence with all Democratic candidates running for office in DC/MD/VA area
  • Updates group on developments in issue-based campaigns
  • Organizes group trips to protests/rallies/marches

Community Service Director:

  • Organizes monthly community service event for group
  • Corresponds with leaders of ongoing campus-wide service projects
  • Recruits volunteers from other service groups on campus

Freshman Representative:

  • Works with membership director to recruit freshman/new students
  • Develops various strategies to reach out to new students (dorm storms, chalking)
  • Attends freshman-only events in order to promote group

Fundraising/Finance Director:

  • Coordinates all fundraising appeals (social events, direct mailings)
  • Develops donor database and keeps regular correspondence with donors
  • Keeps track of group budget
  • Writes grant proposals for additional group funding

Membership/Attendance Director:

  • Develops database of current group members
  • Keeps track of attendance at all group events
  • Develops various strategies to recruit new members

Social Events Director

  • Plans social events for group (retreats, bar nights, etc)
  • Works with fundraising director to plan social fundraisers
  • Corresponds with local non-profits in order for group members to volunteer at/attend social events held by local non-profits

UMD/College Park Issues Director:

  • Keeps group updated on campus-wide issues pertaining to students
  • Updates group on College Park area issues/Corresponds with CP City Council
  • Involves group in events/activities concerning campus or College Park area issues
