Want to be a Member of the College
Democrats Executive Board? • How do the College Democrats elections
work? Thank you for your interest in joining the University of Maryland College Democrats Executive Board. The UMD Democrats Constitution states that all applicants to any of the four elected positions on the Executive Board must be eligible for election, submit an application for that position, and attend an interview to be nominated. Applicants will be notified after all the interviews are finished whether they will be nominated to run for a position. Nominees will be up for election by the organization on April 30, 2008. To be eligible for election you must be an undergraduate student and have attended at least three College Democrats meetings. Please include in the body of the e-mail in which you send your application, which three meetings you attended and provide a brief summary of what took place. The positions that are up for election are Campus Liaison, Secretary, Vice President and President. Please read through the responsibilities and application carefully and please send it in by the due date: April 25, 2008, please ignore all other due dates on this page. meetings, is an undergraduate student, and is in good standing with the University are encouraged to apply. Campus Liaison Responsibilities: The Campus Liaison will maintain the duties of,
but not limited to, SGA Liaison; similar group liaison; attending SGA meetings; joining an SGA committee; making contacts
with the SGA representatives and student leaders; remaining aware of everything going on around campus that would be of interest

meetings, is an undergraduate student, and is in good standing with the University are encouraged to apply. Secretary Responsibilities: The Secretary will maintain the duties of, but not limited
to, maintaining all cabinet positions not yet filled during the course of the summer months; assisting members of the executive
board with programming and projects; and assuring coordination between all executive board members. If

• How do I run for the
Vice President position? The College Democrats are searching for a new Vice President. Everyone who has attended at least three College
Democrats meetings, is an undergraduate student, and is in good standing with the University are encouraged to apply. Vice President Responsibilities: The Vice President will maintain the duties of,
but not limited to, deputy chief executive; presiding over all meetings and functions that the President cannot attend; meeting
with other groups; organizing event logistics; setting up College Democrats Association of America convention logistics; coordinating
with the State Federation of College Democrats; establishing joint programming with neighboring institutions; overseeing the
new elections; and assuring that the executive board is representing the opinions of the majority of active members.

• How do I run for
the President position?
The College Democrats are searching for a new President. Everyone who has attended at least three College Democrats
meetings, is an undergraduate student, and is in good standing with the University are encouraged to apply. Presidential Responsibilities: The President will maintain the powers associated
with a chief executive officer, including, but not limited to, appointing all cabinet members; issuing a process and application
by which to appoint said cabinet members; assuring that the articles and sections outlined in this constitution are being
executed; having executive last word on all issues as well as veto power; setting the programming agenda; managing the website
blog; coordinating programming; inviting speakers; recruiting new members; generating relationships with other campus organizations;
reserving rooms for meetings and events; and calling the executive board meetings and the general body meetings. If

as an attachment to mbesser@umd.edu. Applicants for President are obligated to also submit a blank and unique application for
the cabinet positions the President must appoint if elected. Those positions are Membership Secretary, Operations Secretary,
